Each year we ask for nominations for our Counselor of the County award, which goes to a person who lives and/or works in Somerset County, and is a great counselor who inspires and is a role model to others.

We are pleased to announce Ms. Angela Cleveland as our “Counselor of the County” for the 2015-2016 school year.

Ms. Cleveland is her schools anti-bullying specialist and helps promote a positive school climate by collecting data and developing programs to promote such. She co-chairs BoroSAFE, which is an organization who provides suicide awareness and prevention resources to the local community.

Ms. Cleveland has published articles on Edutopia and in the NJSCA newsletter about the use of technology in the counseling profession. She also presented at the NJSCA Conference on topics including “Technology Toolbox for Counselors” and “The Top 10 Apps Teens are Talking about”. She has published two therapeutic books for children, based on Diabetes and Generalized Anxiety/School Refusal. She also wrote an article titled “Using Origami in Counseling”, which was published by the American School Counseling Association last year.

Ms. Cleveland earned her Bachelor’s Degree from William Paterson University.
She also has three Master's Degrees:

Masters of Ed. in Psychological Services from University of Pennsylvania

Masters of Ed in Instruction from TCNJ

Masters in Organizational Leadership from Rider

In July, Ms. Cleveland will be doing a presentation about technology at the American School Counselor Association Conference in New Orleans and has also just been invited to attend the United State of Women White House Summit this month!
